My Blog:life, thoughts and behind the scenes

A few years ago, I made this box for my friend. It's kiln cast with a type of crystal that shifts in color under incandescent and florescent light. This is a special glass; most glass colors don't have this property.

In college, there was a student that claimed that their pink glass was stolen out of a box stored in the basement. It caused unnecessary drama for a week because after moving the box upstairs, the "missing" glass magically reappeared.

Some process shots of cake plates I made for Open Editions in SF. These might be some of my favorite color combos and designs I've made as plates. I'm especially pleased with the pink snake-like patterning against the lime green and pastel purple.

The small platter has emerald green feet. This type of green has always been a hard color for me to use, but now I know it looks great with fuchsia! I will definitely be using this combo at some other point in the future.

This is one of the first mugs I made with a successfully pulled handle! (And for all you non-potters, there are a lot of ways of making mug handles, but this is a traditional handle making technique, and it produces a handsome loop that looks cohesive with the cup.)

I wish I had taken a sponge to the dots to better expose the white under the glaze. Oh well. A fun thing to do for next time.
